New York Rangers Betting Analysis

New York Rangers at a Glance

The New York Rangers encountered disappointment in the previous season, bowing out in the opening round of the playoffs at the hands of the emerging New Jersey Devils.

Notwithstanding substantial trade maneuvers prior to the deadline, which brought Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko into their ranks, the Rangers’ future remains shrouded in uncertainty. Stepping into the 2023-24 season, the Rangers have enacted strategic roster enhancements during a comparably subdued offseason, with the objective of fortifying their team and advancing beyond their past accomplishments.

The imminent departure of star performers like Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko, seemingly distant prospects for free agency return, is poised to reverberate throughout the Rangers’ offensive strategies. Adapting to this transformation necessitates a recalibrated approach and a reliance on alternate players to rise to the occasion and bridge the scoring gap. It becomes pivotal for the younger talents on the roster to continue their evolution and make meaningful offensive contributions.

The Rangers orchestrated pivotal signings during the offseason, ushering in the arrivals of Blake Wheeler, Nick Bonino, Tyler Pitlick, and Erik Gustafsson. This infusion bolsters the team with experience and depth.

Particularly noteworthy is Wheeler, who brings a wealth of leadership and adept offensive capabilities, both on and off the ice. These augmentations inject valuable reinforcement and steadiness into the Rangers’ lineup.

As the New York Rangers brace themselves for the onset of the 2023-24 season, they confront the formidable challenge of adapting to roster transitions and the unresolved status of pivotal players’ returns.

The infusion of fresh faces during the offseason enhances the lineup’s maturity and depth, while the intriguing tandem of Shesterkin and Quick in the goaltending domain adds a layer of anticipation.

The holistic development of the emerging talents stands as a linchpin in determining the Rangers’ prosperity, and an aspiration for playoff participation assumes practical feasibility.

Rangers to Win NHL Stanley Cup +2000

The Rangers are not exactly the favorites to win it all, but they are still regarded as above average. BetMGM Sportsbook has the Rangers at +2000 to win the Stanley Cup, which is 12th best in the league.

They are behind other Eastern Conference opponents like the Bruins (+1400), Devils (+1000), Carolina Hurricanes (+900), Toronto Maple Leafs(+1000) and Tampa Bay Lightning (+1400), and the Florida Panthers at +2000. Multiple teams are even with New York at +2200.

Rangers to Win Metropolitan Division +450

Sportsbooks and bettors are not very bullish on the Rangers winning the Metropolitan Division. New York has the third-best odds to win the division per BetMGM.

New York Rangers Betting Partnerships

New York Rangers and BetMGM

Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp and Madison Square Garden Sports Corp (the holding companies of the Rangers and Knicks) are in agreement on a multi-year marketing partnership with sports betting company BetMGM.

The deal names BetMGM as an official sports betting partner of the New York Rangers, New York Knicks, and Madison Square Garden Arena.

The sports betting giant will have its brand all over the inside of The Garden with dasher board advertisements at Rangers games and GardenVision branding. BetMGM also has courtside and ribbon LED signage and basket stanchion signage for Knicks games.

New York Rangers: The History

As one of the NHL’s original six, the New York Rangers have a long and storied history. The Rangers were founded in 1926 by boxing promoter and Madison Square Garden president Tex Rickard and first hit the ice in the 1926-27 season.

They won the Stanley Cup a year later in 1928 and followed that up with two more championships in 1933 and 1940. However, success would be much less common for the Rangers in the 1940s and moving on into the Original Six era (1942-1967). During that time, New York rarely made the playoffs and never won a championship, despite having just five other teams to compete with.

The NHL’s expansion era (1967-1992) was much better to New York. The Rangers routinely made the playoffs and even made it back to the Stanley Cup Final in 1972 and 1979. They lost those championship series to the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens, respectively, but it showed that they were a more relevant franchise in the latter half of the 20th century.

The Rangers finally broke through to win the Stanley Cup in 1994. Led by future Hall of Famers Mark Messier, Brian Leetch, and Sergei Zubov, New York defeated the Vancouver Canucks in seven games to hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup.

Since then, the Rangers have been one of the better franchises in the NHL but haven’t been able to win another Stanley Cup. Following the ‘94 championship, New York endured a playoff drought from 1997-2004, then improved with consistent playoff teams. The Rangers were successful in the mid-2010s, losing the Stanley Cup Final to the Los Angeles Kings in 2014 and winning the Presidents’ Trophy in 2015.
