The candidate will lead a team expected to write and publish breaking health news on deadline, while reporting out an array of fascinating health-related features. This might include digging into the debate over a controversial wellness topic; finding real people to discuss personal health struggles; and debunking myths and offering science-backed tips for healthier living.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team to report, write and publish breaking health news for nypost.com, as well as feature articles of varying lengths
  • Edit stories with sharp, well-conceived angles that fit with The Post’s brand
  • Optimize content for SEO, social, syndication, and leverage traffic analytics to increase engagement and grow our audience
  • Think strategically about the daily news cycle and manage ongoing coverage of trending wellness stories
  • Oversee wellness as a mini-brand across all The Post’s platforms such as video, newsletters and sponsored partnerships
  • Act as a public face for our health content, confidently appearing on camera for video segments, interviews, and live events

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience as an editor in an online news environment, ideally with a focus on health and wellness
  • Proficiency in digital strategy, analytics and SEO best practices and tools
  • Experience managing and mentoring reporters of varying experience levels
  • Excellent judgment as to what drives audiences across various digital platforms
  • A genuine interest in health, wellness, and lifestyle topics, with a commitment to providing accurate and valuable information to readers
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about content and revenue opportunities, with experience in developing monetization strategies
  • Experience working with e-commerce, sales and marketing
  • Ability to work a full-time M-F schedule, with some flexibility in scheduling

Note: The NY Post adheres to a hybrid work model. This position will be expected to come on-site 4 days per week.

Salary Range: $100,000 – $150,000
