Meet Turi, who’s part of our rural team supporting local farmers and growers in their sustainability journey 🌱   “I’ve always had a strong connection to the land having grown up on a family sheep and beef farm, which we still manage today,” says Turi. “My upbringing motivated me to play my part in helping the food and fibre sector build resilience and thrive for future generations.”   One of the most rewarding things for Turi in his work is being able to sit down with a customer and provide practical support unique to their farm’s needs.    No stranger to rolling up his sleeves and putting on a pair of gumboots, Turi alongside our team of rural managers, has contributed to 10,000 visits to farmers all over the country in the past year 🥾🥾

One of Andrea’s passions as a community banker is being there for people who need a helping hand, especially when life throws curveballs at them 💛 Andrea says, “I follow the needs of the community, which means no two work days are the same. One day I could be in a library where I would run a financial wellbeing workshop, and the next I could be helping a customer in hospice.    At one of my workshops, a participant told me I had inspired them to take control of managing their money, and it made a real difference for them in the long run - it’s things like this that make me feel blessed to be a community banker and be able to provide them with ways to be resilient for their future.”   Our community bankers throughout NZ provide bespoke support for customers needing extra help, and create close connections with their communities. As part of their mahi (work) they’ve delivered over 800 workshops on financial wellbeing and fraud and scams awareness in the last year.   #SortedMoneyMonth

As one of our community bankers, Matilda thrives on being able to help people in her community build positive money habits 💸   “One of the most rewarding things about my work is seeing people take ownership of their finances, and understanding that money matters don’t have to be complicated. With setting a financial goal, for example, it’s important to break it down and make it achievable for your budget. Starting small can add up and make a big difference.   I remember when I was little, my aunty would split money into envelopes every pay day.” Matilda says. “I didn’t understand until I was older that was how they got their budget sorted!”    Over the last year, Matilda has helped 1,100 people based in the Northland region to get set up with tools to manage their money with confidence. She travels across the region and works with local libraries, community centres and aged-care facilities, running workshops for people from a range of backgrounds and at different stages in their financial journey.    #SortedMoneyMonth
