Protecting Our Eggs: Ensuring Safe and Reliable Egg Supply for Kiwis   As avian flu becomes a growing threat overseas, our commitment to biosecurity on our egg farms is stronger than ever. We're dedicated to keeping our eggs safe for consumers and maintaining a steady supply to keep eggs on Kiwis' plates.   Here's how we're taking action:   🚪 Strict Access Control: Every visitor must complete a biosecurity declaration before entering our farms.   🚷 Employee Site Restrictions: Our employees are restricted to specific sites and must change footwear between sheds to prevent cross-contamination.   🧼 Clean Entry Points: All vehicles and footwear are thoroughly cleaned upon arrival to our sites.   🧥 Protective Gear: Visitors are required to wear PPE and boot covers, and are only allowed in contained areas.   At Better Eggs biosecurity is not just a protocol—it's a priority. 💪 Food rescue in action—saving food from waste and feeding our communities!   Recently, we encountered a situation with a pallet of eggs supplied to the Woolworths New Zealand team. These eggs were nearing their best before date and, while still perfectly edible, wouldn’t make it to store shelves in time. Disposing of them would have been the easy way out, but that’s not our style!   Our mission is zero food waste, and we knew we could do better. With the help of the Primary Connect logistics team and the fantastic food rescue team, Just Zilch - Palmerston North's Free Store, we sprang into action. Just Zilch quickly collected the eggs and distributed them to community groups in need.   This is what true collaboration looks like—turning potential waste into nourishment for those who need it most. 🌸🐔 Behind the Scenes: Mother's Day Shoot  🐔🌸   This year, for a heart-warming Mother's Day campaign that took us on an incredible journey from the mighty South Waikato to the big smoke of Auckland.    We had the pleasure of featuring the daughters (Molly and Paige van der Heyden) of one of our founding families in this special project. These talented young chefs brought joy and excitement into the kitchen as they showcased their egg-cellent culinary skills, whipping up delicious poached eggs for mum. 🍳💖   Watching these girls transform simple eggs into a delightful breakfast reminded us just how fun and easy cooking can be for kids. Eggs are not only a nutritious powerhouse but also a versatile and straightforward meal option for anyone in the family. From scrambled to sunny-side-up, there's no limit to the creativity eggs can inspire in the kitchen! 🌟   Seeing the pride and joy on their faces as they cooked for their mum was truly heart-warming. Mother's Day is a reminder to celebrate the simple pleasures of cooking together and making memories that last a lifetime.    Big shout out to our young chefs for making eggs the star of the show.
