Interested in tikanga considerations in public sector practice? ⚖ Justice Whata delivered an engaging presentation on the meaning of tikanga and what it means for public sector law at our offices in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. The main takeaway was the importance of approaching tikanga through a Te Ao Māori lens and understanding tikanga concepts on their own terms.  Keep an eye out for our upcoming article on Tikanga where we will unpack the learnings from this discussion. 👀 This forum was the first in an educational series hosted by Nick Crang and Geeti Faramarzi on public sector law. Stay tuned for our upcoming Official Information Act Masterclass on Thursday 17th October. ngā mihi

Attention employers! Your contractor arrangements may be putting you at risk... 🛑 Defining someone as a contractor doesn’t stop them from being classified as an employee. Here's how to distinguish between an employee and a contractor: - Understand the definition of both concepts. - Determine the rights and obligations of the worker and the principle based on written and verbal agreements and day to day work. - Assess the individual against three well-established tests for determining a worker's true status. Following this approach ensures your contractor engagements are robust. Learn more in our article linked in comments 👇
