Humans are funny creatures aren’t they? Close to my house are a few T3/bus lanes that have very specific times of the day that they are in operation. Almost every time I drive on them, outside of operational hours, the normal lane is packed with bumper-to-bumper traffic, and the T3/bus lane is empty, or maybe one or two cars on it. This is despite it being very legal to drive in that lane at that time. People must think 'if everyone is in that lane, and no one is in the other lane, then I better be 'safe' and follow the crowd'… There's no thought to read the signs along the road that show the operational hours. They just follow the masses. It blows me away. This very same mentality can be applied to investing. Mark my words: Over the next year, news item after news item after headline will point to lowering interest rates, rising house price predictions, and actual rises in value. These articles will ramp up and up across all media sources as the next few years roll out. Only at that point will the masses get in, and FOMO kicks off. Much the same as if car after car started to move over into the T3/bus lane. People would think “they’re all doing it, so we should”. If people could simply break away from the masses, drop the emotional response to investing, and understand that this is all just about market cycles, they would outperform most of the population - Oh, and they’d get to their destination a hell of a lot quicker!
