Our inaugural Dying Matters Week was a remarkable display of national collaboration across New Zealand/Aotearoa, bringing communities together to discuss end-of-life planning in such a meaningful way A huge thank you to everyone who participated and contributed in Whangārei, Whangaparāoa, Auckland, Palmerston North, Wellington, Canterbury, Otago, and all the amazing online events. We’re especially grateful to the National Libraries Association for creating a safe and supportive space for these crucial conversations and to New Zealand End of Life Doulas, Henderson Reeves Lawyers, Honohono Tātou Katoa and Hospices around New Zealand that helped to help bring this important new national event to life.

Go With Grace offers guidance and support around end-of-life planning and facing the loss of loved ones.
About us
Go With Grace offers guidance and support around dying. For many of us, we choose not to reflect on - or plan for - this moment in time. Go With Grace helps you to better understand and prepare for dying, to provide comfort and peace of mind to both you and your loved ones. A free and independent website, Go With Grace is a collection of information, services, resources and stories to support anyone facing their own passing, or the death of a loved one. We also help you prepare for dying with our death planning tool, which ensures your wishes are known after you are gone. Death is a very tender and personal subject. We all face death, and we all face loss and grief throughout our lives - it is part of the human condition. However for many, the fear of dying stops us thinking about, and planning for, this final stage of life. Death can be incredibly difficult to talk about and even more difficult to accept. Go With Grace is a place to start these conversations. We support people to better plan and prepare, so they have the peace of mind that their dying wishes are known. Having these conversations can also take away stress and anxiety for your loved ones, so they aren’t left struggling to make decisions without your guidance, at a time of loss and grief. We have worked very hard to ensure the information on Go With Grace is gentle and inclusive, because dying means so many different things to different people.

Conversations around dying and death can be tough but they are essential conversations we all need to be having. I'm looking forward to connecting and engaging with the Porirua community tomorrow afternoon at Porirua City Library. This is an informal drop in session so come on down for a chat, check out the resources and books available. Thanks again to Porirua Library for supporting this event and a big shout out to Go With Grace.

There’s a growing movement to raise awareness, spark discussion and take the taboo away from Death and Dying. While there are many amazing people and organisations working in this space, little light is shed on the exceptional knowledge and support they provide us, at times when we are often at our most vulnerable. Last week The Spinoff wrapped up another insightful Death Week, Hospice New Zealand recently launched Dying Reviews, and we’re seeing more and more Death Cafes popping up all over New Zealand, as people realise the importance of tackling this often challenging topic, while we have the time and space to make clear and thoughtful decisions we won't live to regret. Launching on Monday 5th of August, Dying Matters Week celebrates those heroes working tirelessly in the 'death industry' to care for the dying and their loved ones. We're supporting them to share their wisdom with the living with a new series of free events and workshops happening across Aotearoa. Whether you want to give the gift of peace of mind to your family, or avoid thousands of dollars in funeral and legal costs, Dying Matters Week is for you, to support open conversations and proactive end-of-life planning. There are online and in-person events in Whangārei, Whangaparāoa, Auckland, Porirua, Palmerston North, Otago and Canterbury. Dying Matters Week will launch in NZ early next month, to start essential conversations about death and end-of-life planning, filling a societal gap in discussing this often taboo topic that affects us all. We've partnered with End of Life Doulas Alliance Aotearoa, Henderson Reeves Lawyers and Hospices and Honohono Tātou Katoa around New Zealand to help bring this important new national event to life. Based at local libraries from Whangārei to Christchurch, free workshops, presentations and activities are being supported by local organisations and experts on topics such as advanced care planning, end of Life planning, natural death care and more. Go With Grace Founder Katy Mandeno highlights the importance of people understanding all their options when it comes to end of life. "Dying Matters Week is an opportunity for the community to hear from a wide range of experienced professionals in this field, to learn more about their options and feel empowered to make informed choices, bringing peace of mind to themselves and their loved ones." Workshops include a wide range of topics, from natural funeral options, grief and loss, traditional cultural practices, and understanding funeral expenses, highlighting the many considerations in end-of-life planning. Join us in embracing these conversations to shape your legacy and find peace of mind.
