About us

Māori Women’s Development Inc. (MWDI) is an organisation with a proud whakapapa. Established in 1997 by the Maori Womens Welfare League (MWWL) initiative, MWDI is dedicated to uplifting wāhine Māori and their whānau by fostering economic development and entrepreneurship. Rooted in our core values of Mana (empowerment), Manaaki (support), Whanaketanga (development), and Wairuatanga (spirituality), MWDI is committed to creating equitable opportunities to ensure that Māori women can achieve success in business, while also contributing to the broader economic, cultural, and social prosperity of Aotearoa. MWDI focuses on Māori-led solutions and offers a range of initiatives tailored to meet the diverse needs of wāhine Māori. Our programs, including MWDI HineBoss™, MWDI Te Aka™ sessions, and Mana Mindset workshops, provide valuable skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to succeed. Whether supporting new business start-ups or helping established ventures expand, MWDI has proven to be a trusted partner for hundreds of wāhine Māori and their whānau. Through our ongoing commitment to supporting wāhine Māori and their entrepreneurial endeavours, we aim to drive sustainable growth and create a prosperous future for generations to come.
