The MainPower Natural Environment Fund is designed to support local efforts that make a tangible difference in the Hurunui. With projects including habitat restoration and pest trapping initiatives, this year's winners exemplify the spirit of environmental stewardship. 📢 MainPower drone programme takes flight The MainPower drone programme is in full flight with qualified pilots and drones based at every depot.   We are using drones to assist large outage scoping, pole inspections, vegetation scoping and general faults using thermal and close- up imagery.   The technology proved very useful during recent snowfall, with drones being deployed at Mt Lyford and Kaikōura. Using the drones, NFOs were able to complete line patrols on the network without carrying out on foot in remote or hazardous terrain.   Below is some crisp imagery captured by Flight Commander/NFO, Arron May 👨✈️

We are thrilled to share the positive impact of the MainPower Community Pantry initiative is having on two rural schools in Hurunui! Thanks to a partnership between Together Hurunui and MainPower, Amuri and Cheviot area schools now have portable freezers stocked with nutritious meals for students who need a top up. This initiative builds on the 2022 Snack Food in Schools programme also supported by MainPower and aims to improve student nutrition, ensuring they stay focused and perform well in school. Kudos to Hurunui Council’s Natalie Paterson and our partners for making this a reality.
