Last weekend, our team members Kayla (Sales Consultant) and Neve (Product Coordinator) had the opportunity to stay at The Headwaters in Glenorchy. They were impressed by the lodge’s commitment to sustainability, which is reflected in every part of their operations. From generating 105% of their power with solar panels to using composting toilets, maintaining a kitchen garden, and collecting rainwater, The Headwaters prioritises environmental responsibility. Their stay was made even better by the warm hospitality and thoughtful touches throughout. The chef's choice dinner was delicious and made with local ingredients, and the cooked buffet breakfast alongside morning yoga was a great way to start the day. The staff's care and attention made Kayla and Neve feel truly welcome. Our team both enjoyed their stay, surrounded by the natural beauty of Glenorchy and left with a strong appreciation for The Headwaters' commitment to both guest comfort and sustainability. Thank you to The Headwaters for hosting our team and providing such a memorable experience. Your dedication to sustainability and hospitality is truly commendable.

Last weekend, our dedicated team embarked on an unforgettable journey to the stunning West Coast, courtesy of Glacier Shuttles and Charters. Product Coordinator April Finlayson, Sales Team Leader Chelsea Lodge, Sales Consultants Gina Lowen, Neisha Hill, Sophie McKenzie, and Sales Support Dana Aplin experienced the very best of the region, expertly guided by Richard from Glacier Shuttles and Charters. The trip included several breathtaking stops on the way from Wanaka to Franz Josef. The next day, our team visited Whataroa to meet Dion at White Heron Sanctuary Tours, where they gained fascinating insights into the beautiful White Herons. Following this, they were welcomed for a site inspection of both 58 on Cron Motel and Punga Grove, where they explored various room types and observed the latest upgrades.. After lunch, the team set off for Ōkārito, where they met Baz at Okarito Kayaks. Paddles in hand, they ventured into the lagoon and were thrilled to spot a White Heron. Despite a few challenges with stuck kayaks, they navigated through a stunning forest area, ending the adventure with a warm cup of tea and coffee at the Ōkārito Kayaks shop. That evening, the group enjoyed a fantastic dinner at King Tiger, joined by Ann and Richard from Glacier Shuttles and Charters, Dion from White Heron Sanctuary Tours, Lily from Punga Grove, Lisa from the West Coast Wildlife Centre, Baz from Ōkārito Kayaks, and Sheryl from 58 on Cron Motel. On the final day, the team had a delightful breakfast at Full of Beans with Ann and Richard before visiting the West Coast Wildlife Centre. Here, they received a VIP guided Backstage Pass tour, gaining valuable insights into the lives of Kiwi and Tuatara. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ann and Richard for organising such an outstanding West Coast experience.

General Manager Customer Experience Liz Wilson and Product Team Lead Amy Lecons spent the week in Wellington alongside hundreds of tourism professionals to meet with suppliers during TRENZ 2024! Te Wharewaka o Pōneke hosted the pair on a Waka experience on Wednesday. This cultural and educational activity was an incredible way to kick off TRENZ in the capital city. On Thursday and Friday, Liz and Amy met with NZFT’s longstanding suppliers, as well as RTOs and new operators across the country. It’s very special to meet our suppliers in-person to strengthen relationships and walk away with fresh ideas to showcase Aotearoa. Thank you to TRENZ, the sponsors and of course, the volunteers! Liz will also be attending ATE in Melbourne next week.

  • Yesterday evening, Lake Wanaka Cruises hosted the NZFT Social Club, who enjoyed the Happy Hour cruise into Stevensons Arm on board the Dual Image catamaran. 🛥️ After a quick burst of rain, the sun started shining and made for a great environment for the team to catch up. We are very fortunate to have such cool experiences right on our doorstep! ☀️

Last week our Supplier Relationship Manager, Zoe Fowler and Product Developer, Amy Lecons travelled to Franz Josef for a famil opportunity on the West Coast. In Whataroa, the pair went on a guided tour of the only White Heron Nesting Site in Aotearoa with White Heron Sanctuary Tours. A short walk through dense rainforest revealed 10 White Herons, a special sight to see as the bird population is only around 150 across the country. While watching, an adult was spotted, bringing a small eel to its young. Thanks, Dion & Adele, what an incredibly informative tour! On the following day, a weather call prevented a helicopter experience, however, Franz Josef Wilderness Tours was kind enough to host Zoe and Amy on an Off-Road Quad Bike Adventure Tour. For 2 hours, the small group drove through ancient rainforests, splashed through rivers, and explored the glacial landscape. You cannot pass through Franz without visiting Franz Josef Wilderness Guides! Zoe and Amy stayed at Te Waonui during their short visit. Surrounded by dense tropical trees and nestled within the misty mountains, Te Waonui is centrally located and includes a 5-course degustation dinner and a buffet breakfast. As with all Scenic Hotels New Zealand Hotels, the soft beds guarantee an incredible night’s sleep. Thank you Rohan for your hospitality! The pair came back to the office with fresh ideas for tours and were excited to share their discoveries with the company upon their return. 🐦🏍️
