Meet Sam Ballam, recently promoted from Associate to Principal at Patersons!    Sam graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Surveying in 2009. Following graduation, he moved to the Sunshine Coast in Australia and worked on construction projects in the Queensland gas industry for a two-year period.     Returning to New Zealand in 2012, Sam worked on large scale multistage subdivisions across the Auckland region, gaining experience in all parts of the process; from initial feasibility assessments, developing the civil design, management of the construction phase, to facilitating final sign off and titles.      In 2019, Paterson Pitts Group (as it was then known), was lucky enough to have an enthusiastic and very talented Sam join its Queenstown team. Sam immediately stood out for his skill and eagerness to go the extra mile no matter the project. His excellent work on projects like the Gibbston Valley lodges, Ayrburn and Northbrook are a testament to his talent and dedication.     Please join with us in congratulating Sam on his new role! #landservices #peopleandculture

Our Christchurch office is actively involved in all facets of land development in Canterbury and beyond. With over 20 employees, this team brings a wealth of expertise, local knowledge and established relationships, offering sound advice and adding value wherever possible. Specialising in urban in-fill multi-unit subdivisions, they provide comprehensive advice and services from initial due diligence to project completion. At McBride Construction Ltd’s 83 Rutherford Street units Patersons provided building set-out services, building location certifications, subdivision planning, and legal subdivision surveying services. Of course, in-fill multi units is not all they do! They also deliver a wide range of services to a wide range of clients, including building set-out and certification, boundary marking, topographical surveys, in-fill subdivisions, rural subdivisions, precise surveying of complex engineering projects, greenfield planning, engineering design, and contract supervision. A prime example: The Crossing in Rolleston. Our team handled all surveying, planning and engineering disciplines for this recently delivered, 200+ lot greenfield development. Like our six other South Island branches, this team is well-resourced, utilising state-of-the-art surveying field equipment and supporting software to streamline deliverables. Dunedin Principals, Kurt Bowen and Jason Eichstaedt, alongside Surveyor Matas Barakauskas and CEO Korina Foot, are on-site today at University of Otago, presenting to final year surveying students.    This is a great opportunity for our team to meet with (soon to be) graduates, letting them know about Patersons, the type of work we do and our team culture.    We love the personality and energy that new grads bring to our experienced team of 100+ and boast a structured graduate development programme to support and extend these new recruits.    Supporting this programme, we also enjoy employing surveying students as interns over the holiday breaks.    Georgie Bruce joined us this past summer at our Wānaka office and she said, “I think the biggest takeaway from my internship at Patersons was gaining familiarity with the different types of equipment. I used a variety of surveying technology and found that time spent on the equipment was an effective learning method. The surveying course is content heavy and involves a lot of theory, so it was cool to see how this was applied in the real world. I also enjoyed working on the 2 lot subdivision from start to finish and found that being able to see what is needed at each step of the process to be incredibly beneficial.”    Image: Georgie Bruce (in green on the left) with surveying classmates. During this practical they were surveying the sea floor out at Port Chalmers in Dunedin Harbour as part of an assignment for SURV322 (a 300 level hydrographic surveying paper).    https://lnkd.in/gediZUyh #peopleandculture #surveying #landprofessionals #graduateprogram
