Non-profit Organizations

The association for risk professionals in New Zealand.

About us

RiskNZ is the leading non-profit association for risk professionals in New Zealand. The Society brings together people and organisations managing risk under the guiding vision that New Zealand prospers when risk is well managed. Established in 2000, we aim to strengthen New Zealand's ability to make good choices while navigating a rapidly changing context. We do this by enabling regular connection to share knowledge; build networks; encourage research; facilitate professional development; inform public thinking, and influence government, regulatory and business processes to achieve better risk management practice. RiskNZ is connected to a wide range of industry sectors, central and local government, many professional bodies and non-governmental organisations, and the tertiary education / academic sector. Recognising that much is changing in the way that risk is perceived, tolerated and managed in NZ and abroad, RiskNZ each year in consultation with its members, sets several priority work-streams to ensure our delivery is relevant and that we have the capacity and agility to meet the needs and expectations of our diverse stakeholder network. The Governance of RiskNZ is stewarded by an 11 member elected management board, supported by a Managing Director and Administration Officer providing professional support.

Earlier this month, at the 2024 RMIA Risk Conference in Sydney, Tony Dudley, former President and Chair, announced a groundbreaking collaboration between the RMIA and RiskNZ. This partnership focuses on a shared mission: to elevate risk management standards across the Trans-Tasman and Pacific regions. The collaboration will see a sharing of knowledge and resources and will make our esteemed certification and education programs available to RiskNZ members. This collaboration strengthens the ties between our associations and empowers Trans-Tasman and Pacific businesses to demonstrate excellence in risk management. Tony went on to thank David Turner, CEO of RiskNZ, and RMIA CEO, Simon Levy, for their instrumental roles in bringing this together. “We are truly excited to unite with RiskNZ in our shared mission to elevate risk management standards across the Trans-Tasman and Pacific Regions. Through this collaboration, we envision a future of enhanced knowledge sharing, improved educational outcomes, and consistent certification and accreditation. This partnership represents a significant step towards advancing risk management practices and fostering excellence in our communities.” - Simon Levy GAICD, MRMIA “What a great opportunity! It's been great working with Simon and the RMIA team over the past two years and sharing many similar views on the future of risk and how we can help members as they navigate their way through the changing risk landscape. I attended the RMIA conference just last week and they certainly know how to weave learning and up-skilling with fun and great discussions. This is the first time in the history of both organisations that we have been so closely aligned in our risk thinking and direction, successfully creating a strong and value-based partnership aimed at providing greater opportunities for our members. RiskNZ and RMIA can work together to not only increase our knowledge within our ever changing, diverse and demanding risk industry, but also help influence and up skill individuals and organisations across these two great countries.
