Connecting Companies to Retail Investors at Sharesies

The philosophies of two of the most impressive investors (with strong track records over many decades) can at face value seem contradictory: ➡ Warren Buffett: "It's far better to buy a wonderful company at a fair price than a fair company at a wonderful price." ➡ Howard Marks: "There are no good and bad assets, just good and bad prices." From my observations, Infratil embodies both Marks' and Buffett's philosophies and creates a common ground between both. Their mission of ‘investing wisely in the ideas that matter’ is about selecting high-quality assets to hold for the long term. Simultaneously, they remain opportunistic when there is clearly a higher value owner (hello, Tilt Renewables!). From the beginning Infratil have always focussed on retail investors and bringing them along on their long-term investment journey. It was fantastic to celebrate this last night at their 30-year celebration. A big congratulations to the Infratil team (Mark Flesher Matthew Ross Sharyn Lyford Louise Tong Kirsty Mactaggart)  - here’s to another 30+ years of wise investing and delivering great shareholder returns! And here’s to my six-year old daughter, who promptly pointed out how short I was in this picture! Every morning, for some time, I've woken up to the same few words…. Variations of the words…. “dark mode please” We have a slack channel that feeds through any Sharesies feedback we get in our wealth app. It’s one of my fave channels to check each morning. It’s gone a little quieter in the mornings now we’ve rolled out dark mode. Super chuffed with the team’s effort to bring this to life and improve accessibility too 🖤.

I just hosted my biggest (and arguably the most fun) hackathon so far at the Sharesies Wellington office, working on our number one most-requested feature: dark mode! This event was so rewarding, not just because we had a whole bunch of cool people from various disciplines working together in the same room, but also because of the immense customer value it delivers. Dark mode improves accessibility and readability, making it easier to use Sharesies in low-light environments. It has been one of the most requested features in AU and NZ. This project not only tackled the dark side, but also brought a whole new set of colours to compliment it and some brand tweaks. We dramatically improved how we manage colours in the design system, ensuring that devs and designers use shared, consistent colours across both the app and web. After living in the feature request comments section for months now, it's a joy to finally provide dark mode for the US trader timing the market in the middle of the night, the bedtime side-hustler avoiding disturbing their spouse, and the new mum breastfeeding at 2 AM! Dark mode responds to your setting at the device level, so log into Sharesies after dark to check it out! Massive shout-out to the team for all their hard work in delivering this feature across our app and web platforms. Looking forward to a quieter feature request channel...for now.

August has brought big things to Sharesies HQ! We hosted our biggest-ever hackathon, working on our number one most-requested feature: dark mode. It’s always awesome to see so much excitement and cross-team collaboration, coming together to smash out a huge project in just a few days through pure hustle. We’ve been planning dark mode for a while now, so it was an easy choice when we were prepping for our quarterly hackathon. Dark mode is a really important feature for our customers, improving accessibility and readability and making it easier to use Sharesies in low-light environments. Want to see the final result? Switch your device to dark mode and open the Sharesies app to check out our dark side. Make sure you have the latest update on the Sharesies app too! Massive shout-out to the team for all their hard work to deliver this super sought-after feature to our customers. Thanks for bringing this bright idea to life. 💡 🖤

Connecting Companies to Retail Investors at Sharesies

As a Sharesies investor in Napier Port, I recently received an email from Todd Dawson, CEO of Napier Port, providing me with a results update. And although the results were positive (!), what was more exciting for me was how informative, succinct and personalised the communication was. A simple, deliberate and effective way to engage and communicate with their Sharesies retailer investor base. Retail investors are reshaping our business landscape and it’s encouraging to see companies begin to recognise the potential and benefits of engaging with this type of investor. Our Sharesies Open platform allows companies to gain deeper insights into their retail stakeholders and communicate with them directly, providing real-time engagement metrics and aggregated investing activity statistics. If you’re interested in seeing what it could do for your company, please get in touch. We’re so excited to help better understand their retail investor base! GM of Design and Marketing at Sharesies

I'm really proud of the Design and Marketing team here at Sharesies and happy to say we have made it into the finalists for our two entries into the Best Awards this year 🎉🎉🎉. We entered the Sharesies KiwiSaver Scheme including the product we created and our marketing website and investment plan builder. The offering is one of the largest innovations to KiwiSaver since its introduction 17 years ago, giving Kiwis real choice about where they invest for their future. The investment plan builder is a pretty special tool which gives prospective customers a chance to create their investment plan and then join us bringing through the choices they've made or save for later. Congratulations Katy Elgar, Sophie Taylor, Jwen Yap, Ben Wright, Matt Bluett, Joyce Kim-Dentice, Thomas Sutherland, Ben Stonyer, Nacho Sauri, Leon Mackie, Stuart McDonald, Cyma Parbhu, Steph Bain, Helen Matterson, Asher Bastion, Kitty Hughes, Rachel Beange, our previous teamies Zak Brown and Kallan Jones, and of course the rest of the Sharesies crew that brought it all to life.

Last week we added one final presentation to our 2024 retail investor roadshow, partnering with the team at Sharesies to present in person and virtually to Sharesies retail investors. It was fantastic to share our strategic direction and vision with such an engaged audience, both in the room and online. Thank you Leighton Roberts, Susannah Batley, Helen Matterson, and the wider Sharesies team for helping to make this event possible. #Infratil #investorrelations #ideasthatmatter
