Meet Petra Tahana! Enablement Practice Lead at Tower 👋   “Ko Tarakeha te Maunga   Ko Moetangi te Awa   Ko Matihetihe te Marae   Ko Tinana, ko Mamari, ko Ngātokimatawhaorua nga Waka   I ahu mai ahau i ngā tatai whakapapa o Ngāpuhi me Te Rarawa  Ko Tao Maui te hapu   Ko Petra Tahana toku ingoa    My purpose has always been ‘how can I help someone?’ As I’ve progressed through my career, I always make sure that I’m adding value by helping people learn about insurance. I grew up in Ngāpuhi and supporting and caring for those around me has always been instilled in me from a young age. Everything you do, there is a communal mindset of making sure others are looked after and taken care of, particularly the elderly and youngest. Insurance is a product that helps put people back into a position they were in prior to any loss, and the idea of caring for our customers aligns with my own values. When I apply that to my role, it’s always about making sure our staff are looked after. If our teams have the right tools and resources, they’re able to do their job. If not, how do we create those resources for them? I moved roles to Frontline Enablement Practice Lead last year. One of my key goals coming into the role was to transform those offerings and how we engage with staff, essentially making sure the role is meaningful for team members and enablement specialists. If anyone is interested in joining the insurance industry, approach it with an open mind and you will learn something new every single day. At this point in my career, after 16 years with Tower, I’m still learning new things, and I think that’s what makes it exciting.”    #TowerNZ #TowerPacific #insurance #ourpeoplecomefirst

Check out these photos from Tower’s official Kiwibank welcome last week at our head office in Auckland! Ahi Kā (Tower’s Māori Roopu) led a beautiful whakatau with a karanga from Tower Head of Business Partnering, Employee Relations and Inclusion Danica Hape-Tiria, and Partnerships Coordinator Jarvarnah. Following this, Tower MD Partnerships Jonathan Beale, Tower CEO Blair Turnbull and Kiwibank Chief Customer Officer Mark Stephen, spoke to our teams. Kiwibank gifted Tower a special taonga, featuring a binding that symbolises friends and whānau, and how they are linked and connected throughout life’s journey. To show our appreciation to Kiwibank branches across New Zealand, Tower also sent out more #towerkiwi cupcakes! We can’t wait to see this partnership continue to come to life in the coming weeks to help protect more Kiwi with insurance. #TowerNZ #insurance #Kiwibank

Country Manager Tonga - Tower Insurance

Last week Tonga hosted the 53rd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting at the THS Stadium in Nuku’alofa, Tonga. As part of the forum, Tower Insurance set up our booth throughout the week at the side event hall, beside the THS stadium. We promoted the benefits of protecting your assets with insurance and were visited by forum delegations and the public.  I also presented on Tower’s parametric insurance product, Cyclone Response Cover, to a number of forum members from our neighboring island countries, staff from Tonga government ministries including, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Climate Change and Communications (MEIDECC), Ministry of Statistics and NGOs.  Cyclone Response Cover is an insurance product designed to provide policyholders with a rapid cash payout when their house, or other insured location, is impacted by a high wind-speed cyclone event, regardless of damage. We received lots of interest and positive feedback on how affordable cyclone response cover premiums are, and how accessible the product is for people who don’t own traditional houses or vehicles. Something people might not know about this product is that it’s also available for people who own businesses, farms and crops, and for large corporates to use as a staff benefit for their employees, as well as for families as an investment for their loved ones. I valued the opportunity to connect with a wide range of officials and our communities. The Tower team is looking forward to continuing to build our Tower Tonga brand as well as our wider offering off the back of this inspiring forum event.  #TowerTonga #TowerPacific #PacificLeadersForum #ParametricInsurance

We help businesses all over New Zealand connect with the best IT & Digital talent.

In Episode 6 of the Rewired Consulting Podcast, we were joined by Liz Cawson who is Head of IT Operations and Business Engagement at Tower Insurance. We discuss her early career working on a Service Desk and how that put her on the track to where she is today. Originally from the UK, she explains why she wanted to get away from the rat race of London to move to NZ and how she found the transition. We find out about her passion for IT Service and Operations and how she moved into people focused leadership roles. Liz discusses how she was able to progress into leadership roles in a male dominated industry but also highlights how far NZ has come over the last few years with diversity and inclusion. She talks through some of the innovative projects she been involved in at Tower and how she has built a high performing team as well as how she sees the future of Tech in NZ. This was a great chat, and we hope you enjoy. Sean Patterson Rewired Consulting https://lnkd.in/gCKZ6gXa

Product Manager John Whitta has been a part of many historic moments at Tower but now we’re celebrating John’s own special milestone, 50 years of service!    Checkout Terry Gangcuangco's story via Insurance Business New Zealand about John’s journey at Tower here https://lnkd.in/gX72V5ky   "It’s important to adapt to new ways of working. My advice to younger generations or those just starting out in insurance is, give it a go, give it time, get involved and be curious    Working at Tower, you are in a family environment. The names, the leadership, and the people have all changed throughout the years, but the values here have stayed consistent.    It has always been important to me that the company upheld values that aligned with my own and that has always been the case – including treating our people and our customers with empathy, and respect." - John.   Thank you, John for your outstanding commitment to Tower staff and our customers over 50 years of amazing service! Pictured, John present day and at a 1987 National Insurance (now Tower) conference (back row, second from left). #TowerNZ #TowerPacific #insurance

This is what it’s all about! Brilliant interview here https://lnkd.in/g_NHZ58c with 2024 Tower Climate Change Scholarship winner, Maia Waudby on Waatea NEWS this morning. We’re so proud and pleased to announce Maia (pictured) and Hannah Dagger, as this year’s Tower Climate Change Scholarship recipients. Both Maia and Hannah are dedicating their studies towards mitigating the adverse effects of climate change on Māori and Pacific communities.   Tower has supported the The University of Waikato’s Bachelor of Climate Change since 2021, with three $5,000 scholarships available each year to assist students studying the degree. As a Kiwi and Pacific insurer, we’re acutely aware of the climate risks faced by island communities. We created this scholarship to help support the next generation of climate leaders to pursue solutions and initiatives they’re passionate about.   Listening to Maia explain her ambitions, purpose and motivation this morning is truly what it’s all about for us at Tower. As a business, we’re inspired by Maia and Hannah’s passion for preparing our communities in the face of climate change - a stellar example of our future being in good hands.   Thank you to host Dale Husband and Waatea News for giving rangatahi in the climate space a platform!   #TowerNZ #TowerPacific #insurance #climatechange
