Reuben Tucker, our Managing Director Institutional & Business Banking, loves to set himself epic challenges to help out great causes. Earlier this year, he took part in an extended #ChopperBikeRide, cycling 870km (!!) from Christchurch to Queenstown to help out Chopper trusts. Now, he's saddling up again (though in slightly warmer conditions!). Reuben, along with 16 other riders, is taking part in the Cure Kids Fiji 500, a four-day, 500km ride around the island of Viti Levu, to raise funds for the Cure Kids Fiji Oxygen Project. Our Technology Head of Risk, Tatum Crisp, recently had the pleasure of spending the day with Connor Nguyen, a year 13 student at Rangitoto College, and Joshua Mulligan, AUT Bachelor of Business (Honours) student, as part of Auckland University of Technology's Shadow a Leader programme. Tatum says she enjoyed attending meetings with the pair and hearing their insights, as well as generally walking them through what a regular day in technology risk at Westpac looks like. "It was an inspiring day and I think the students walked away with a good idea about what technology risk is, and how we manage it in the financial services industry." It was great to be able to host this morning’s Sustainable Business Council NZ breakfast in our Takutai Square offices. Westpac NZ Senior Sustainability Manager Social Impact Sum Green hosted a panel discussion with Kaitiaki Collective's Alyx Pivac, thinkstep-anz's Barbara Nebel and the Sustainable Business Council’s Jay C. The speakers dug into the topic “sustainability is a team sport” and there was a lot of great conversation around how organisations can advance their sustainability work, how to ground practices authentically in te ao Māori, and how to demystify sustainability to support people to take action. As Alyx Pivac said, “Sustainability is living in harmony with the environment and the people you’re around.” Thanks to everyone who came along! Our relief package features a range of possible support options including: • Suspension of home loan payments for up to three months for individuals ahead on their repayments and who have a sufficient undrawn balance. • Financial hardship assistance, which may include a reduction in loan repayment amounts for a period of time, access to term deposit funds or other support. Affected business customers may be able to access: • Suspension of principal payments on loans for up to three months. • Deferred payment on credit cards for up to three months or temporary overdraft facility. • Access to term deposit funds for customers in financial hardship.
