About

I believe that life is an adventure of our own making and I thrive on seeking out new challenges. My passion is to make a difference in the lives of those around me and to have a positive impact as a mother, educator, manager & humanitarian. In both my personal and professional life, I am constantly striving to be a part of something meaningful, often leading the way with charitable and worthwhile social causes. My professional life is built on the bedrock of a strong work ethic, forged during my time as a manager with Air New Zealand, and further fortified during my tenure as the Marketing Manager for The International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC).

I don’t believe that opportunity is an accident but rather, that we create opportunities for ourselves. This belief has enabled me to stretch my personal and professional capabilities both as a leader in my field and as a person in general. I find that the people around me feed off of my passion and positivity. By demonstrating empathy, integrity, and a desire to work hard & to a high standard, I am able to lead a team to success no matter what the challenge.

My strong and robust strategy is simple; developing and maintaining a positive company culture & bringing people together to invest in ideas is the key to achieving success. The key to effective teamwork & project management is to leverage the skills & capabilities of those around you to drive decision making & pave the way to success.

Learning is one of my great passions and I have developed my own skills in the intricate & exciting world of marketing. Through a natural process of listening, learning & adapting I have formulated strong skills in the field, and have been able to pass those skills onto others through mentoring in the workplace. The value in my ideas has often been recognised by key stakeholders, and my work has been used to the benefit of other organisations to run their own successful campaigns. This has also led to me being the point of contact to manage new projects, which has hugely benefited the organisation.

In the words of the late great Sir Edmund Hillary, a person whom I admire greatly, “People do not decide to become extraordinary. They decide to accomplish extraordinary things.”

The Auckland City Mission was very short of teenage boy and girl presents but after our efforts we managed to not see one teenager presentless that year.

I arranged a number of events to fundraise for the Himalayan Trust. These events include my 'Dine For Nepal' dinner events and a movie fundraiser. I've raised thousands of dollars to support the work of the trust.

I've promoted these events and shared this among friends, family, industry and fellow Himalayan Trust supporters. Each event have reached capacity through my own marketing. All marketing material, strategic planning and the official running of the event was managed by myself.

I continue to assist the trust through these events and it gives me great satisfaction to share my experiences in Nepal and encourage others to do the same so that we all can improve the quality of life for those in the Khumbu Region.

With continued efforts of fundraising I raised over $2300 for 10 Sherpa Widows in a village in Pangboche, Khumbu Valley, Nepal. I hand delivered this money in cash to each widow on my journey to compete in the Tenzing Everest Marathon.
I had organised this through a contact and friend in New Zealand. We arranged a meeting with someone in Pangboche. I carried the cash with me on this journey, accompanied by someone to look out for my safety. I left the Marathon group that I had travelled…

I had organised this through a contact and friend in New Zealand. We arranged a meeting with someone in Pangboche. I carried the cash with me on this journey, accompanied by someone to look out for my safety. I left the Marathon group that I had travelled with to do this and trekked further into the Khumbu Valley to meet the women who would receive this money. It was an honour and a whole new adventure to the one I was already taking part in. This entire journey to meet these incredible women ended up being one of the most important parts of my trip. This became more important than running the marathon.

Sadly the May 2022 Marathon was postponed. I decided to continue on my Marathon journey and run the lake on the planned date. I reached out to local community groups on social media and had a wonderful surprise whilst running the 42.2km. So many of the local Rotorua community cheered and beeped horns in support.

This was not only an achievement to run my 11th Marathon, but also a wonderful feeling to do this in honour of my mother who passed away in May 2021.

As a part of the growth of our schools products we have been running a Business of Tourism Academy. This being so successful that in 2021 we signed an agreement to do a City & South Auckland Academy. The Academy is something I have encouraged my team to manage, stepping aside to allow them to be creative with their planning for the 30 individual days that the group of students visit us whilst in school. We look to grow this even further into 2023 in the South Auckland & Northland region.
