I certainly can’t be the only person who was speechless (rare, but it happens) after hearing that Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick were having twins through a surrogate. Now, SJP has broken her silence about the decision, the woman giving her the ultimate gift and her fetal fears.
“It would have been odd to have made this choice if I was able to have had successful pregnancies since my son’s birth,” she tells Access Hollywood, adding that they’ve been trying to expand their family for some time.
When asked about her reaction to the news, Sarah Jessica recalls, “Giggles! We didn’t expect it. I think after a certain amount of time, you tend to hold your hopes at bay a bit so as not to be disappointed. One really would have been thrilling and we would’ve felt incredibly lucky. And two was a comedy!”
As for the couple’s son, James Wilkie, she says that he is the most excited about the family growing! “He’s really excited. He’s very much ready to be an older brother. I think it gives him a great sense of pride. It’s wonderful and I just hope for their safe arrival.”
Speaking of, talk naturally turned to the birth mother, of whom, SJP says, “She is a woman who made an incredibly generous and gracious choice. I’m really comfortable with her. She’s made a really big choice and has committed herself in an exemplary way to our lives.”
Two thoughts: one, Sarah Jessica is incredibly well-spoken. How have I not noticed her stellar vocabulary and tremendous diction before? Two, this woman is going to be part of their lives? Like move in with them? Hmmm, I smell reality show!
