Whitney Houston’s mom to pen tell-all memoir

Cissy Houston, the mother of the late Whitney Houston, will “set the record straight” about her daughter’s career and untimely death in an upcoming memoir, HarperCollins Publishers announced.

The yet-untitled book is scheduled for release on Feb. 15, 2013.

Houston said in a statement she hopes the book gives fans a “deeper understanding into my daughter’s true story.”

“When I lost my daughter Nippy, the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman,” the 78-year-old gospel singer said.

Whitney Houston drowned accidentally in the bathtub of a Beverly Hills hotel room on Feb. 11 aged 48, with cocaine and heart disease playing a role in her death.

HarperCollins is owned by News Corp., the parent company of NewsCore.
