“Modern Family” is taking a trip down under.

The cast and crew of ABC’s multiple Emmy-winning comedy are currently in Sydney, Australia filming the show’s next holiday special.

On Wednesday the sitcom’s cast — including Sofia Vergara, Ed O’Neill and Ty Burrell — was photographed picnicking in the city’s Botanical Garden during filming.

It’s the first time that an episode of the five-season-old series has been shot outside of the US.

In addition to Sydney, which is located in New South Wales, the show will also journey to Queensland to film at the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands.

The show’s producers had a witty excuse for taking the show on the road.

“We just had to go to the Great Barrier Reef, since, like Sofia Vergara, it’s one of the natural wonders of the world,” co-creator Steven Levitan told The Hollywood Reporter.

It’s not just the cast and crew who are excited to be in Australia — so are the locals.

Fans mobbed the show’s actors as they arrived at Sydney International Airport on Sunday, screaming with glee and scrambling to take selfies with their favorite stars.

But local viewers aren’t the only ones thankful for a visit from the fictional Pritchett and Dunphy families, local officials are as well.

“Modern Family’ is a hugely popular show, and it’s very exciting for our tourism industry to know that places like the Great Barrier Reef and Hayman Island will be seen by millions of people right round the world,” said Queensland arts minister Ian Walker.
