Wedding preparations are well under way in Venice, Italy, ahead of George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s ceremony Saturday.
The festivities are slated to kick off Friday night with a rehearsal dinner at the five-star Hotel Cipriani, where much of the weekend’s action will take place, Us Weekly reports.
The next morning, guests will be treated to breakfast at the hotel, a converted 19th-century granary, before getting whisked off to the swanky Aman Canal Grande hotel via boat for the ceremony, which will be officiated by Clooney’s pal and former Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni. Clooney will wear an Armani tuxedo, reports People. Alamuddin will wear Oscar de la Renta (but has also been spotted leaving Alexander McQueen in recent weeks, and she arrived in Italy on Thursday carrying a Stella McCartney bag).
Following the ceremony, a five-course meal will be served to guests.
After the ceremony and dinner, guests will be taxied back to Cipriani for drinks around the pool. Fireworks are also planned for the evening.
On Sunday, yet another dinner will be held in the couple’s honor at Cipriani, and on Monday, Clooney, 53, and Alamuddin, 36, will have a civil ceremony.
The city of Venice will shut down a portion of the famed Grand Canal for the civil ceremony, reports the Associated Press.
“Everyone is very excited. It’s going to be quite the party,” an insider told Us Weekly. “There is a lot of celebrating planned.”
On Friday morning, guests began arriving for the wedding. Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, were spotted boarding a water taxi, as was actor Richard Kind. Bono, plus Rande Gerber and wife Cindy Crawford, are also expected.
