‘I never enjoyed the paparazzi’: Vince Vaughn on relationship with Aniston

Vince Vaughn, the 44-year-old actor who is set to star in the second season of True Detective, spilled the beans in an interview for next month’s edition of Playboy Magazine.

On recalling his year long fling with Jennifer Aniston, the actor praised her but said he didn’t like the attention that came with dating one of Hollywood’s biggest actresses.

“For me personally — and I think most well-known actors who are together feel this way — I never enjoyed the paparazzi side of it.”

“You like someone and you’re spending time with them; that’s separate and that was all fine. But I really spent most of that time finding ways not to be drawn into the attention,” he said.

The pair began dating in 2005 during the filming of The Breakup, and remained together for a little over a year.

Vince Vaughn is now married with two children and aside from his tenure with Aniston, the actor volunteered a number of insights into his life including gun ownership, drug use and personal politics.

His gun ownership:

“I believe in the right to defend yourself if need be. Hopefully you’re never in that situation, but I think you’re fairly naive to believe there will never be a cause for self-defence.”

His drug of choice:

“I like to drink, but drugs never appealed to me. If anything, my thing was cigarettes. I quit seven years ago, and it was the hardest thing to do. Part of it was just being on a movie set. You’re bored and you just get used to it.”

His libertarian politics:

“Trusting the federal government to know what we need and to run things well feels like a bad idea. You see that in the foreign policy of force, where the United States decides to go into another country to make things turn out a certain way. It doesn’t work. It causes more problems.”
