Al Pacino: I don’t regret things, I learn

Al Pacino talked about dealing with fame at the premiere of “Danny Collins,” the story of an over-the-hill rock star who receives a life-changing letter from John Lennon 40 years after it was sent.

“I haven’t been, in my life at times, grounded,” Pacino told reporters at AMC Lincoln Square. “I felt what they called the vicissitudes of fame. I have felt it, gone through it . . . highs and lows. You keep looking for the middle.” But, “I don’t regret things because out of mistakes, and I’ve made plenty . . . I learned. Through those mistakes I met people, my life was changed a couple of times, so mistakes aren’t quite mistakes.”

The “Godfather” great has no plans to retire: “I keep looking forward to a porch and rocking chair, but so far things keep pulling me back in.”
