‘Star Trek’ star Nichelle Nichols suffers stroke

Actress Nichelle Nichols, best known for her role as Lt. Uhura in “Star Trek,” suffered a stroke in her Los Angeles home, her publicist announced in a social-media post

“[Wednesday night] while at her home in LA, Nichelle Nichols suffered from a mild stroke,” Zach McGinnis wrote on Facebook.

“She is currently undergoing testing to determine how severe the stroke was. Please keep her in your thoughts.”

Nichols was scheduled to appear at New Jersey’s Eternal Con on June 13 and 14.

The 82-year-old actress appeared in the original “Star Trek” TV series, which ran from 1966 to 1969, as well as the “Star Trek” movies.

She also played the role of Nana Dawson in the ABC show “Heroes,” and voiced characters in the animated TV series “Futurama,” “Gargoyles” and “Spider-Man.”

“We understand #NichelleNichols has been rushed to the hospital,” tweeted “Star Trek” co-star George Takei. “Our thoughts are with her.
