Chris Pratt: I was ‘emotionally depressed’ at 300 pounds

Chris Pratt’s svelte frame is no laughing matter.

Opening up about his weight struggles in the latest edition of Men’s Health UK, the “Jurassic World” star hit a low point after tipping the scales at 300 pounds.

“I was impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed,” Pratt shares in the July issue of the mag. “I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way. It’s bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit.”

Pratt voluntarily packed on the pounds to play resident scene stealer Andy Dwyer on “Parks and Recreation.” But it wasn’t until the father of one caught a glimpse of his ballooning figure that he opted to changes his ways.

“I though, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting fat.’ And then almost immediately I did something else and thought, ‘Holy crap, I’ve never seen myself funnier.’ And I put two and two together.”

Only after nabbing the role of a Navy SEAL in 2012’s “Zero Dark Thirty” did Pratt trade in his love handles for rock-hard abs. He ultimately credits the flick as his source for gym-spiration.

“Right after walking out [of a ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ screening] I was like, ‘I’m going to get in shape and I’m never going to be fat again.'”

Pratt is clearly keeping his promise.
