A $1,000 party foul at Baccarat Hotel opening

The Baccarat Hotel celebrated its opening Tuesday with a lavish bash full of caviar, macarons and Champagne in Baccarat flutes worth $260 each.

But the swanky spot lost at least $1,000 worth of the crystal glasses. Four were dropped as guests like Rosario Dawson, Martha Stewart, John Demsey and Steve Madden circulated.

The property was developed by Starwood Capital and sold to China’s Sunshine Insurance. With residences going for up to $60 million, Starwood’s Barry Sternlicht quipped, “We’re having a one-night-only sale of 1 percent off.”
