Willie Geist buys his Christmas tree at a bodega

Willie Geist doesn’t go very far to get his Christmas tree every year.

“One of the things that’s become a tradition for us with our kids is something that happens out of necessity in New York City, which is going to get the Christmas tress down at the corner bodega,” he said on the Christmas edition of the “Today” show.

The NBC co-host, who lives on the Upper West Side, says that for years he’s taken his two young children to pick up the family’s tree.

“We walk down Broadway, we go to the bodega at the corner, we pick up the tree, and the three of us can be seen on a December afternoon hauling a massive six foot, seven foot tree right down Broadway,” he said.

Geist, 40, and wife Christina have an 8-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son.
