Kris Jenner: It takes ‘God’ to deal with Caitlyn’s transition

Kris Jenner is learning to let go.

“I think at some point, although [Caitlyn Jenner‘s transition] was difficult and, uh, a challenge … I just have to let it go,” she said in Harper’s Bazaar’s March issue. “And try to be tolerant.”

The 60-year-old mother of six credits both “prayer” and “God” in helping her cope with her ex-husband’s male-to-female transition.

Caitlyn, 66, took the world by storm in 2015 by announcing that she identified as a transgender female, but the decision complicated an already strained family dynamic — in December of the previous year, the couple finalized their divorce after 23 years of marriage.

“It takes time,” Kris added. “But time is a wonderful healer. And we have two children together. It’s important for my kids to see our family strong and united.”

Kris also revealed that before Caitlyn, she did not know much about the transgender community.

“I never really thought about it before,” she said. “And I’d never known anyone who was transgender. I didn’t even know what the word meant. Because there’s transgender and transsexual, and there’s … I mean, I just didn’t know much about it. So … I definitely got a big education.”

But while she learned more about what it means to be transgender, Kris said it makes her question her marriage to the former Olympian.

“You know, ‘What were those 20-plus years all about?’” she shared. “And I felt like, at some point anybody would feel like, ‘Wow, why was I put through this? For 20 years I could have been, you know, doing something else.’ But I really do believe everything happens for a reason.”
