Melissa McCarthy revealed at Carolines on Broadway that she was inspired to become a comic by beloved “SNL” star Gilda Radner.
Receiving the Gilda Radner Award for Innovation in Comedy, McCarthy “didn’t do any stand-up, but [said she] was ‘touched’ by Gilda.
She spoke about how she would trick her parents and crawl out of bed as a kid to watch Gilda on ‘SNL,’ ” a guest said.
“Ghostbusters” co-star Kristen Wiig was also at the Svedka-sponsored bash to raise funds for Gilda’s Club New York City.
