The director of HBO’s new documentary “Cries From Syria,” Evgeny Afineevsky, hopes his film will inspire people to help the crisis — and is trying to get members of Congress to see it.
“One of the challenges that I put in front of my team is to get it to DC,” he said at a Council on Foreign Relations screening Tuesday.
“At least some of the politicians — they are parents — and these kids will be talking directly to their hearts. My only hope is that their hearts will be open . . . and maybe something will be changed in their minds.”
