Mel B’s sex tape search turns up empty

Stephen Belafonte is denying allegations he has sex tapes of Mel B in a storage unit and has accused her of “creating hysteria” over the accusations.

Mel B, 41, filed a restraining order against her estranged husband earlier this month, alleging he physically abused her and threatened to release the explicit videos in an attempt to extort and exploit her.

She also accused Belafonte of having an affair with the family’s nanny, Lorraine Gilles.

In documents previously obtained by TMZ, Mel B’s legal team alleged that sex tapes of the former Spice Girl, as well as memorabilia and photos of her late father, were in a storage unit in Gilles’ name, an allegation that Belafonte’s attorney vehemently denied.

“Unfortunately, it appears that Ms. Brown is creating further hysteria and seeking meaningless Court orders,” Belafonte’s attorney, Grace Jamra, told TMZ on Tuesday. “It will be clear to everyone that there are no sex tapes in the storage … [Gilles] had nothing to do with the storage facility. In fact, Ms. Brown terminated Lorraine before the items were placed in storage.”

Mel B’s legal team eventually obtained access to the storage locker they believed to contain the property, but found nothing, TMZ reported.

The singer was granted a restraining order against Gilles, TMZ reports, which, like the order against Belafonte, requires Gilles to stay 100 yards away from and avoid contact with Mel B.

Mel B filed for divorce from Belafonte in March after nearly 10 years of marriage.

Belafonte has denied all of the allegations in Mel B’s filings and is seeking spousal support from the “America’s Got Talent” judge, as well as joint legal and physical custody of their daughter, Madison, 5, and visitation with her daughter with Eddie Murphy, Angel.
