Miley Cyrus says she was ‘always a little controversial’

She was just being Miley.

In a bid to prove that she’s back to her former persona, Miley Cyrus is looking back on her “Hannah Montana” days.

While stopping by Radio Disney Thursday, the “Malibu” singer rewatched her original audition tape for the Disney Channel series. Before Miley’s younger self launched into song, the 24-year-old singer pointed out her incredibly apropos outfit. “My T-shirt says, ‘I Should Have My Own TV Show,'” Cyrus noted, before lip-syncing along with her audition tape.

Miley’s audition featured her singing her song, “Beach Weekend,” that included lyrics such as, “Trying out our brand new bikini. Maybe drive a few boys crazy.”

Liam Hemsworth‘s better half couldn’t help but laugh at her lyrics. “[I was] always a little controversial, from the beginning.”

The precocious youngster had confidence from the get-go, telling producers on-camera that getting a deal with a label is definitely “going to happen.” (She wasn’t wrong.)

Miley’s trip down memory lane comes one day after she released her newest single, titled “Malibu,” which is about her fiancé. Her more gentle-sounding tune launched the next chapter in her once-controversial career. With drugs and partying behind her, Miley is focused on living a “clean” life.

“I haven’t smoked weed in three weeks, which is the longest I’ve ever [gone without it],” she told Billboard. “I’m not doing drugs, I’m not drinking, I’m completely clean right now! That was just something that I wanted to do.”
