Bruce Willis, Cher pretended to stump for presidential nominee

Bruce Willis and Cher pretended to join a celeb tour to campaign for Democrat Michael Dukakis in the 1988 election — but didn’t want to be “stuck on a smelly bus.”

In his memoir, “Revenge of the Nerd,” Curtis Armstrong recounts how stars were stumping for Dukakis against George H.W. Bush.

“But Bruce Willis, Cher and Sally Field weren’t going to get stuck on a smelly bus with a lot of mad young actors … They just showed up before we all boarded to give statements to the press and looked like they were boarding … Then as the bus left, they sneaked off back to their cars and back to Malibu in time for brunch and a quick swim.”
