Carmelo Anthony and estranged wife La La Anthony spent Mother’s Day together with their son, Kiyan, sparking rumors of a reconciliation.
The couple publicly had an early dinner at Neta in the West Village — but insiders told Page Six not to expect a reunion anytime soon.
“They had dinner with their son. That’s all it was. It was Mother’s Day. He wanted to take his mommy out. He’s 10. Daddy went along. They both took her out,” an insider said.
Another source added, “They are not back together.”
But other sources have said Carmelo is trying to woo back his wife, who attended the recent Met Gala without her wedding ring.
Anthony was in the hot seat just last month when Page Six revealed that La La kicked him to the curb after he allegedly cheated and impregnated his mistress. But neither has taken steps to file for divorce.
“It could go either way. La La’s all about image. There’s no rush. She has her own life, so they’re trying to figure it out,” said a source.
Another added: “I doubt she’s going anywhere, anytime soon. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re still living together. Their lifestyle is about the cameras and being seen. Carmelo loves her to pieces. She’s in the driver’s seat.”
But a friend of the couple told us they’re “not living together.” And, “she’s about protecting Kiyan and making him feel like his life isn’t shaken up and that both parents are still there. They’re only together when it comes to their son. People can read what they want into it. The whole situation is so new. She isn’t running to the lawyers yet. It’s still one day at a time, and she’s been too distracted with work,” the insider said.
A Carmelo source told us he’s also grappling with figuring out if he will remain with the Knicks or agree to a trade and leave town.
“He doesn’t want to uproot his son’s life,” said the source, adding that Carmelo “needs to go somewhere where he can definitely shine. It may not be where he wants to go.”
Page Six reported that Melo’s been “texting La La nonstop, asking her on dates and even a vacation.” Reps did not comment.
