Kim’s assistant carries pepper spray after Paris robbery

Kim Kardashian isn’t the only one who was rocked by her robbery in Paris.

“It was terrifying,” her assistant Stephanie Shepherd told Refinery29 in a recent interview. “At the time, I had to hold it together and make sure everything was getting handled and that we could get Kim home as quickly and safely as possible, and obviously I can’t even begin to imagine what she’s gone through, what she’s had to deal with.”

In October, the 36-year-old reality star was robbed at gunpoint at her apartment in Paris. Millions of dollars worth of jewelry was taken and Kardashian was tied up and left in the bathtub.

“Even I have been more cautious,” Shepherd told the lifestyle site. “We have alarms and security plans, and all that. Still, whenever I’ve had to stay home alone, I get a little scared. So I did get a couple of extra pepper sprays.”

Shepherd has been Kardashian’s assistant since 2013, joining the team just before the star gave birth to her daughter, North.

“I was doing her whole schedule, doing her laundry, booking travel, putting the stroller together and all of these things. But I wasn’t nervous. I was just excited, always staying longer than I needed because I was trying to prove myself,” Shepherd said of working for Kardashian. “I was a brand-new assistant who had no idea what to do with a baby, but we all moved into Kris [Jenner’s] house, and she was the one who made it all feel OK and moved mountains for us.”

Shepherd’s career as a celebrity assistant began when she was hired by choreographer Mikey Minden. She grew up in a very small town in Ohio. “I would pass cows driving to school,” she said. “Our nicest restaurant was Olive Garden.”
