Aaron and Nick Carter‘s father, Robert, passed away on Tuesday night, the brothers confirmed Wednesday via Twitter.
“I am heartbroken to share the news that our father, Robert, passed away last night,” Nick, 37, tweeted. “While we learn more about the cause of death, and begin the grieving process, we ask that our privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
Aaron, 29, paid tribute to his father by writing, “My heart is Completely shattered I’m in shock and I loved my dad so much. #RIP DADDY. I Love You.”
Robert was 65 years old, according to TMZ.
Aaron’s rep said the brothers would not be issuing an additional statement at this time.
The family suffered a devastating loss in 2012 when Aaron and Nick’s sister Leslie died of a drug overdose at the age of 25.
