Carla Hall sports her gray hair with pride

There’s a reason why Carla Hall has let her hair go gray, and it has nothing to do with salon maintenance.

“It’s kind of my little stance of saying we’re beautiful in every shade, and to celebrate our wisdom,” she told Page Six as to why she doesn’t color her hair. “Why does a man look distinguished with gray hair and women get told they look old?”

Although the “Chew” co-host loves her look, not everyone she has worked with was a fan.

“There were men who were like, ‘No, you have to color your hair,'” she said.

Her decision to go au naturel has also prompted comments on social media, she told us at the Paley Center Honors on Wednesday night.

“I get a lot of positive support, but the other day I got a tweet: ‘Carla, you’re 53, why do you want to look 73 with your glasses and gray hair?’ I’m like, ‘My glasses are fine, it’s face art,'” she quipped.

Beyond hair color, equal pay is another battle Hall has dealt with in the industry.

“I’m in daytime television [and] the people who are watching daytime television are women,” she explained. “Yet when I first started in this job [men] were making more than I was, and I’m like, ‘Well, if I represent the group that we’re talking to, why are you not investing that time and effort in me so that we can talk to these women honestly?'”

“It’s been tough,” she added.

Staying true to her relatable self, the TV chef was spotted taking the subway uptown after the Cipriani Wall Street event.
