Kevin Hart had such a disastrous audition for “Saturday Night Live” that he left the room silent except for the sound of Lorne Michaels eating popcorn.
In his new memoir, “I Can’t Make This Up,” Hart says he was overjoyed that he landed a tryout — until he found out he had to do impersonations.
The comic hastily learned how to do Avery Johnson, Robert De Niro and Denzel Washington.
But he realized “nobody in the room . . . knew who Avery Johnson was,” and he “promptly forgot everything De Niro had even said in any movie.”
As Washington, Hart just “yelled until I was embarrassed enough to stop.”
Hart hosted “SNL” in 2015.
