Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have renewed their wedding vows, after putting their recent marriage crisis behind them.
The couple’s relationship was rocked last year when it emerged rock legend Ozzy, 68, had enjoyed a secret affair with hairstylist Michelle Pugh.
His infidelity saw Ozzy temporarily leave the family home and he confessed to a string of other sexual liaisons – but the couple are now back on track and held an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas on Sunday.
The pair, who first married in 1982, gathered with family at The Wynn hotel in Sin City for the vow renewal, which coincided with America’s Mother’s Day.
And a source said: “This is something Sharon has wanted for some time. She had been talking about the possibility with friends since last year after dealing with their problems. But when it came to the day itself she wanted to keep things very low-key. They are obviously used to doing everything in the spotlight but made a conscious decision to keep this quiet. It was just an intimate family get-together at the hotel with their children and very nearest and dearest there.”
After news of the affair emerged, Ozzy vowed to clean up his act and enrolled in a sex addiction course to prove his determination to change.
And last October, after completing the rehab, he appeared on Sharon’s U.S. chat show “The Talk” to present her with a diamond wedding ring in a public display of his regret.
Sharon, 64, later revealed: “Ozzy has asked me to renew our wedding vows and I’d like to. I’m happy, and to be honest that’s all I want for Christmas this year.”
Hairdresser Michelle confessed she fell for the Black Sabbath frontman, who she claims first pursued her one year after their first meeting in 2011, calling him the “love of my life.”
She said: “When I say he gave me the greatest love of my life, I mean it. He made me feel like the most beautiful and worshiped woman in the world.”
But Ozzy hit back insisting the relationship was purely physical, and Pugh became embroiled in a legal wrangle with the couple’s daughter Kelly after she posted her mobile phone number on social media.
Following the infidelity, Sharon admitted: “It’s been very hard. But for me, I forgive. It’s going to take a long time to trust, but we’ve been together for 34 of marriage and it’s more than half of my life. I just can’t think of my life without out him. Even though he is a dog. He’s a dirty dog. So there we are. He’s going to pay big.”
In a statement, Ozzy’s spokesman later said: “Over the last six years, Ozzy Osbourne has been dealing with a sex addiction. He is sorry if Ms. Pugh took their sexual relationship out of context. He would like to apologize to the other women he has been having sexual relationships with. Out of the bad comes good. Since his relationship with Ms. Pugh was exposed, Ozzy has gone into intense therapy. Ozzy is mortified at what his behavior has done to his family. He thanks God that his incredible wife Sharon is at his side to support him.”
