Glenn Close broke character while playing Norma Desmond in “Sunset Boulevard” to call out a snap-happy fan in the audience.
At a Wednesday matinee, the six-time Oscar nominee “stopped in the middle of the show when she saw somebody taking pics,” spies say.
Close snapped, “I’m sorry. Stop the show. Someone there is taking photos. You must know how distracting and disrespectful that is. Now, we can have a show or we can have a photo shoot.” She then restarted the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, quipping, “OK, let’s take it from the top of the song.”
Perhaps Patti LuPone began the in-your-face trend in a 2015 Lincoln Center show, when she snatched a phone from a fan.
