Kevin Hart wants to be the ‘comedic Oprah’

Kevin Hart might be small, but he certainly is mighty.

The 37-year-old comedic star is just 5 feet 4, but his dreams are much larger. Hart appears on the cover of this week’s Variety and opens up about his ultimate goal: to be the Oprah Winfrey of comedy. Over the years, Hart has befriended the iconic talk show host, Jay Z and Tyler Perry, all of whom the “Ride Along” actor considers business mentors.

“I’m a student,” Hart tells Variety. “It’s about getting their nod of approval and knowing I’m going in the right direction.”

Perry and the “Empire State of Mind” rapper frequently offer the comedian advice and support.

While he has lofty comedic goals, Hart is also trying to make his way in drama, which is why he’ll star opposite Bryan Cranston in “Untouchable,” a remake of the French hit “The Intouchables.” In it, Hart will play an ex-convict who befriends a paraplegic.

Hart’s agent, Dave Becky, perfectly sums up all of Hart’s dreams.

“Think comedic Oprah,” Becky tells the weekly. “He’s going to build companies and invest in companies and do the things that Oprah and LeBron James do, where they don’t just do their craft — they create industries.”
