Robert Pattinson claims he was almost fired from ‘Twilight’

Edward Cullen could have been a totally different character had Robert Pattinson been fired during the first movie in the series.

The 31-year-old actor recently told the New York Times that his rebellious behavior almost got him the boot.

Things got so bad that his agent actually had to fly out to straighten him out.

Pattinson said his time in the “Twilight” saga was “an amazing luxury.”

It was “amazing luck, as well, to just have fallen into it with the group of people I worked with on it,” he said, adding, “I didn’t have to kiss anybody’s [rear end] the entire time.”

The first of the “Twilight” movies premiered in 2008 when he was just 22 years old. Before that, he played Cedric Diggory in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”

“I think one of the best things, basically, about being a bit of a sellout,” Pattinson said, is “if you’ve done five movies in a series, you’ve had to accept some responsibility for playing the same character.”

Pattinson was recently in Cannes promoting his new movie “Good Time.”
