‘Summer House’ Hamptons show hits permit hiccup

Season 2 of “Summer House” — the Hamptons-based reality show about hard-partying airheads — has hit a summer bummer. The show — which was unpopular with the Montauk Chamber of Commerce and with East Hampton officials who didn’t allow the series to film on public property — has now been denied a film permit by East Hampton Town to film in private, too.

According to a new law, permits are needed even when filming on private property. Newsday reported that an application to shoot at 90 Napeague Harbor Road was turned down for running afoul of zoning codes, and that the amount of filming would classify the production as a commercial shoot.

The application was for the same house featured last season, though producers accidentally wrote the wrong address on a form as 98 Napeague Harbor Road.

But an insider close to the show says things are moving forward at a different address. “They have permits,” the insider insisted to Page Six. “And they have a house — just not the same house. Fans of the show have nothing to worry about. It’s filming this summer.”
