Yankee Stadium set to host its first film premiere

The first-ever film premiere at Yankee Stadium will be held Monday in honor of former US Marine Megan Leavey.

The movie, called “Megan Leavey,” out June 9, tells the true story of her heroic deployments in Iraq with her military combat dog Rex, and the unshakable bond that formed between them.

They were both injured by an IED in 2006, and separated, then Leavey battled through endless red tape to adopt Rex.

Guests will include Kate Mara, who plays Leavey in the movie, and fellow stars Edie Falco, Common and Ramón Rodriguez.

Also among 500 guests, who will be treated to a private performance by Common, will be a host of military veterans and families whose children are undergoing cancer treatment at Sloan Kettering.

The movie was directed by “Blackfish” filmmaker Gabriela Cowperthwaite.

This isn’t the first time Leavey — who’s in the Yankees executive training program — has been to the stadium. She once worked security with a sniffer dog. And she was given a Purple Heart at home plate in 2012, when Rex tried to bite Alex Rodriguez in the crotch.
