Pharma Bro is one of New York’s most delinquent taxpayers

As the feds’ fraud case against Pharma Bro Martin Shkreli wraps up, Shkreli’s been listed as No. 14 on New York state’s July list of Top 250 Delinquent Taxpayers, owing almost $4 million.

But his lawyer Benjamin Brafman tells us that Shkreli, “through his lawyers and accountants, has been negotiating a payment plan with the IRS and New York State authorities that has been accepted by them. He is not a delinquent taxpayer.”

Also on the list is restaurateur Nello Balan, who’s been named in the past, for owing $2 million.

He told us previously, “The previous version of Nello, which has been around for decades, had a few issues, which I understand are being resolved.”

On Wednesday, Balan disputed the amount he owes and said, “My CPA is working on it.”

Restaurateur Stratis Morfogen, who was in a long legal battle with rival eatery Mr. Chow over his Philippe Chow, owes $1.5 million.

His lawyer tells us, “It is unfair to label Mr. Morfogen as the liable party for any of these alleged debts, when he had multiple partners who also shared in these responsibilities.”
