People just can’t help pouring their hearts out to Oprah Winfrey. Just ask Mindy Kaling.
The media mogul was one of the first to learn the comedian was expecting while the “A Wrinkle in Time” castmates were in the movie’s press line at Disney’s D23 Expo earlier this month, reports People.
“That’s when she told me. My mouth dropped,” she told the magazine.“ ‘What did you just say?’ she said. ‘Oh, Oprah, I don’t think you know. I’m five months pregnant.’ And I said, ‘Whaaaat?!’ ”
Winfrey, who’s “excited” for Kaling, wasn’t the only member of the film’s cast and crew let in on the big secret, either — so were co-star Reese Witherspoon and director Ava DuVernay.
“That was it, and we just kept smiling. And then I said to [Reese Witherspoon], ‘Did you know?’ and she said, ‘I just found out, too.’ And then I said to [director Ava DuVernay], ‘Did you know?’ And she said, ‘I just found out.’ ”
On July 17, the day after D23 Expo ended, news broke that Kaling was expecting her first child. An insider told E! News that the pregnancy was “an unexpected surprise.”
Kaling has yet to reveal the identity of the child’s father.
