How Jon Bon Jovi dodged a conversation with Chris Christie

Talk about ignoring the elephant in the room.

A rock drummer says that Jon Bon Jovi made conversation with him — just to avoid talking to much-maligned New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney told Vice News that he was at a birthday party for Howard Stern when the Garden State rock god surprised him by chatting “really intensely.”

“I was like, ‘Why does Jon Bon Jovi want to talk to me?’ And realized it was just because he didn’t want to talk to Chris Christie.”

But a rep for Christie insisted to Page Six that the governor and the rocker are actually dear, dear friends.

“The governor and first lady are personal friends with Jon and Dorothea,” he said. “The story is completely ridiculous.”

The “You Give Love a Bad Name” singer campaigned enthusiastically for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, but did allow Christie to use his music for his campaign events, saying, “My friendships are apolitical, and, yes, I absolutely gave him permission to use my songs.”

Bon Jovi’s rep didn’t respond.
