Serena Williams’ fiancé thinks they’re having a girl

Serena Williams‘ fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, insists they don’t know the sex of their future child, but he believes it may be a little lady.

“We have our hunches,” Alexis, 34, said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Tuesday. “She put it really well — she won the Australian Open while pregnant, and she remarked that she feels like it has to be a girl because everything that little baby went through and handled like a champ, only a woman could be strong enough to take on … If anything, it’s really just reinforced how amazing and strong and powerful and awesome women are.”

In June, Serena’s sister, Venus, referred to the baby as “she,” which Serena, 35, downplayed as an ongoing joke.

“FYI: I think the surprise of knowing what you are going to have on that very special day you give birth is probably the best surprise you can ever have,” Serena tweeted. “So to clarify what Venus said, I am always joking with my sisters to see what favors I can get them to do for me next. If I want something from one of my sisters, I say ‘Baby Venus, Baby Lyn or Baby Isha’ needs it. I did not grow up with any brothers, only sisters, and we all say ‘she’ more than ‘he.’”

Aside from gushing about Serena’s strength, Alexis also admitted to Kimmel he rejected his future wife’s offer for tennis lessons in an effort to preserve their romance.

“I’ve never picked up a racket. I was so ignorant when we first met, I’d never even watched a match on television. I was such an arrogant football snob, I’d change the channel when tennis was on,” he confessed. “She’s actually offered to give me lessons, but I turned them down. I wanted to be the only person in the world who would turn down Serena Williams for tennis lessons — and because I knew there was just no benefit to her seeing me be that bad.”
