What Selena Gomez and Anthony Weiner have in common

Anthony Weiner and Selena Gomez may share a spirit animal.

The disgraced former mayoral candidate and the former Disney star both had rehab stints in Tennessee, where they each participated in equine (horse) therapy.

“I went away for 90 days, and it was the best thing that I ever could’ve done,” Gomez, 25, told InStyle’s September issue. “I had no phone, nothing, and I was scared. But it was amazing, and I learned a lot. I was in the countryside and never did my hair; I took part in equine therapy, which is so beautiful,” she said.

“Everything I cared about, I stopped caring about. I came out, and it felt like, ‘OK, I can only go forward,'” she continued. “And there are still [bad] days. I go to therapy. I believe in that and talking about where you are. But I’m in a really, really healthy place.”

The “Bad Liar” singer reportedly took time off to deal with “anxiety and depression” stemming from lupus. She previously called her stay “the hardest thing [she’s] ever done.”

It seems Gomez, who lamented in March that she wished people would forget about her, benefited a bit more from her horse therapy than the man formerly known as Carlos Danger.

Weiner, 52, checked into a Tennessee facility for cybersex addiction in November after he was busted sexting a 15-year-old girl while married to estranged wife Huma Abedin. However, he made an early exit when he allegedly was too short on cash to stay for the desired full 90 days.

Equestrian therapy is based on the idea that horses behave and respond similarly to stimuli to humans and are able to mirror their riders’ emotions, making it theoretically easy to form a connection between the patient and the animal. Horse therapy can be used to help riders build self-esteem, learn socialization skills and improve impulse control, Equestrian Therapy claims.

No word on whether Gomez or Weiner have ceased their respective horsing around.
