Clay Aiken calls himself a ‘f–king dumbass’ for defending Trump

Clay Aiken is eating his words.

“Remember all those times I defended @realDonaldTrump and believed he was not actually racist?” the “American Idol” runner-up tweeted on Tuesday night, “Well… I am a f*****g dumbass. #imsorry.”

The tweets came hours after Trump blamed “both sides” for the violence during the white power rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Last year Aiken said on Fox Business that he didn’t think Trump was “fascist” or “racist,” comparing him to the “uncle who gets drunk at the wedding and embarrasses you.”

“You still love him, but you’d wish he shut up,” he said.

Even last month, the 38-year-old, who appeared on Trump’s “The Apprentice” in 2012, said the president is actually a “nice guy,” despite Aiken disagreeing with his politics.

After condemning the president, Aiken was adamantly reminding people on Twitter that he didn’t vote for him in the election.

“I’ve always thought he would be a dumpster fire as a president, and I was right about that. I just didn’t think he was racist. #wrong,” he wrote to one user.

He added to another, “My party is the Democrats. I didn’t vote for the idiot. Never ever implied that I did or would. Was VERY vocal about not voting for him.”
