How Vogue staffers know if they have Anna Wintour’s approval

It’s actually pretty easy to know whether you’re doing well at Vogue.

In honor of the magazine’s 125th anniversary, the app debuted digital stickers, including bitmoji-style icons of a coffee cup, a pizza, an iPhone and, most importantly, an animated Post-it with Vogue’s most coveted feedback: “AWOK.”

“No writer/editor/stylist/art director ever forgets their first AWOK, which stands for ‘Anna Wintour OK,’” explained Vogue.com’s fashion news director, Chioma Nnadi, of the insider acronym.

Not-so-great feedback from Wintour, including “Keep Trying,” “No,” or what Nnadi describes as the dreaded “See Me,” may be just as memorable for different reasons.

While Wintour behind her signature shades may remain an enigma to some, she’s obviously clear about what gets her stamp of approval.
